Introduction

Hey everyone! A very Happy New Year to you all once again!

Hope you enjoyed the new year celebration and I wish you achieve a lot of milestones worth celebrating this year!

But wait...

The wish will work if you work....right?

And do you know what is the greatest hindrance in our work?

DISTRACTIONS!!

Yes! Be it a student or a professional, there are distractions for everyone at every point in our lives.

Distraction is the killer of dreams, visions and goals.

Distraction is the #1 Dream Killer.

But I want you to achieve all you deserve and get all that you want.

To remove these obstacles from your path, to reach your destination and make this year full of success today's post has tips on avoiding this enemy called distractions!

So let's get started!

1. Make a NOT-TO-DO List

You all must have heard about a to-do list a thousand times. You must have made one a hundred times. But how many times did you follow it?

And why couldn't you? Because you got distracted...

The first tip for today is tomake a not-to-do list.

But what is a not-to-do list?

In the to-do list we write the tasks we have to do in the day. In a not-to-do you have to write things you don't want to do.

Since we're talking about tackling distractions, in the not to do list you have to write about them.

Prepare a not to do list, listing all distractions of yours. For eg- Social media, television etc.

Keep both your to-do list and not-to-do list in front of you and start your work.

Simply put,the not-to-do list a list of tasks you don't do, no matter what. You delete them, delegate them, or simply say no when they try to find their way on your to-do list.

Clarifying what not to do is as important as clarifying what to do, and when you do both together you'll be able to do all that needs to be done.

2. Mood Monitor

Monitor your mood for a day. Introspect the time when you are most active and the time you are least active. Since activesness is directly related to focus, this step is very important.

This data is different for different people so analyse properly.

Suppose you feel lethargic after having lunch.

Hence during this time do something that does not require too much of attention, some task that interests you. This will help you stay focused even in this time of the day when you're least active.

3. Take breaks

This point is most heard, most known and most ignored. In fact it is not wrong to say that it is one of the most important steps towards focus.

I've written about the significance of taking breaks in one of my earlier posts.

However you may have the problem of getting distracted during that break. And once you let yourself into the distraction, you're not able to return. And when you finally do, you feel bad for the time you wasted, and you end up wasting some more time being sad about it. All focus diminished...

What's the cure for this? That brings us to the fourth point.

4. What if?

Usually the greatest distraction is your phone. You may have got the advice of keeping your phone away from you or in another room so you don't get distracted. But some tasks require us to keep phones handy, as a result, our biggest distraction lies in our vicinity.

But if your will is steady and strong, all distractions will lose in front of it.

For example- you are studying for an exam or preparing for an important presentation.

Whenever you feel like now you are getting distracted, think about your tasks, think about why you are doing those tasks.

Think What if?

What if my presentation is not up to the mark? What if I fail this exam? What if I'm not able to everything well? What if the managers are not pleased by my presentation? What f I'm not able to give my all and perform till my full potential because I wasted time in this distraction?

Is this distraction more important than my goal?

And if I don't achieve this goal I'm working for, will I ever be able to forgive myself for not completing my tasks despite having the time, but wasting it on social media or television?

While you ask yourself these questions, imagine about what all consequences you'll have to face after this.

I'm sure none of us want to regret for our past actions. That's one of the worst feelings. And once you imagine those, you'll get back to work leaving that distraction behind.

5. An App you can use

There's an app called 'Forest- Stay Focused'. While you do your task a tree grows. There's a diiferent tree for each task. And soon a lot of trees will grow in your forest as you further complete more tasks. It'll really help you stay focused and into the vibe.

This app is available on the Google play store.

(NOTE: This is my personal recommendation. Not sponsored)

So, beat you distractions, look up to your dreams and keep working hard. I'm sure you'll achieve them very soon.

My best wishes with you!

That's what I have for you today. Hope you find it helpful.
